From February 1, 2027, Okinawa Prefecture plans to introduce a lodging tax as a non-statutory earmarked tax to cover the costs of measures related to promoting tourism, with the aim of developing Okinawa into a sustainable tourist destination.

● Overview of the accommodation tax
Taxation commencement: Effective for check-ins from February 1, 2027 (Reiwa 9).
Tax base (base for calculating tax amount): Accommodation rate per person per night (room only) (Maximum accommodation fee of 100,000 yen)
tax rate: Fixed rate of 2% (Maximum tax amount of 2,000 yen)

【example】
Room-only rate (Per person/per night) 8,500 yen (excluding tax)

(Taxable base) 8,000 yen (Amounts less than 1,000 yen are rounded down) ×2% = 160 yen

● Regarding payment
Please settle your bill at the front desk upon check-in. (Even if you have paid in advance, you will still need to settle your bill at the front desk.)

●Important Notes
Even if you made your reservation before February 1, 2027, it will be subject to taxation.
For consecutive nights, the tax will be levied on stays from February 1, 2027 onwards.

Additionally, guests who meet the following criteria are exempt from taxation.
1. Children sharing a bed with their parents who do not incur an additional charge.
(If a child is using a bed alone, it will be subject to tax.)
