Fukuoka Tower was built as a monument to the "Asia-Pacific Exposition" held in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Fukuoka City in the first year of the Heisei era. The exterior is 234 meters long and covered with 8,000 half mirrors, and is nicknamed the "Mirror Sail".
